Dave Newhouse: Improvika I & II | A musical response to our challenging times

Today’s Daily Disc features Dave Newhouse’s Improvika I and II. Dave describes these pieces as his “response to the woefully corrupt and fascist government we are currently living under.” … Each CD is a long piece approximately 30 minutes, with a collage-like feel weaving together passages of woodwind harmonies, guitar, shortwave radio, found sounds, and a great many other elements. There is also a bonus track on each CD featuring additional bits from the recording sessions.

Dave plays a lot of the instruments, including clarinets, saxophones, keyboards, shortwave radio, and more. He is joined by:
Fred Frith – acoustic guitar
Billy Swann – double bass and fuzz bass
Greg Segal – percussion
Jerry King – guitar and effects
Bret Hart – electric guitar, effects
Robert Dansby – ambient sounds
Forrest Fang – violin
