The Filternator from Kanawha Music & Art – vintage-inspired resonator

We look at the Filternator from Kanawha Music and Art, a Eurorack module designed to recreate the sound and behavior of vintage high-Q filters or resonators, like those found in …instruments like the Solovox. It’s circuit is based on capacitors and inductors, which can be switched on and off to change the frequency and resonance of the module. It is also passive and doesn’t require any power.

We take a close look at its behavior with a controlled oscillator signal from our trusty Arturia MiniBrute 2, including CV-based mix modulation. We then try it out with an electronic organ sound from our Cherry Audio Blue3.
