Today we have CatSynth pics with our very own Big Merp, who loves to jump up on the desk. Here we see him with our Yamaha RX5 drum machine and our massive modular system. The Metasonix modules are easy to spot, as are the Make Noise modules. We also have MOTM, Rossum Electro-music, Sputnik modular, 4MS, Malekko, Folktek, Mordax, and more as we get into the second grouping in the distance. We also see a bit of the Arturia MiniBrute 2 and Moog Mother-32. A fuller accounting can be found in the tags.

Chinook and Moog Opus 3
Chinook is checking out his latest patch on the Moog Opus 3 by playing a low D. Submitted by Andy Excuse via our Facebook page.
We also have a more styled version of the photo.
The Opus 3 may not be the most well-known of Moog’s classic instruments, but it is a great little synth and very accessible, with separate sections for Strings, Brass, and Organ, each with its own Moog-style VCF. It’s been used by some famous bands we admire, including Kraftwerk and Stereolab.
Satie and Modular (Mutable Instruments, Make Noise, more)
Satie is once again posing handsomely atop his modular system – or rather, a modular that he shares with his fellow feline Tweek. In this view, we can see offerings from Mutable Instruments and Make Noise, and glimpses of others behind the nest of patch cords.

Behringer DeepMind 12
This cat has found a nice warm nook behind the Behringer DeepMind 12 synthesizer. Above (and mostly out of view) are a Sequential Prophet 8 and Roland TR8S.

Boris and Frazetta on a Juno 106
Boris and Frazetta sit atop a vintage Roland Juno 106 synthesizer. We also a Roland Boutique SH-01A, and Akai MPC, and a Korg MS-20.

Bucky and Modular
Bucky poses handsomely next to an impressive modular system. We see many familiar modules, including Mr. Grassi, the Rossum Panharmonium, Erica Synths, Mordax DATA, and more. Bucky is certainly going to have some fun exploring these modules.

Are we doing cats and synths, is that a thing here? Let’s go!
Meet Buckminster aka “Bucky”!
He also has a sister who I’ll introduce soon.

“Cats and synths” will always be a thing for us on every social-media platform, and we look forward to meeting Bucky’s feline sister.

Cat and Arturia MiniBrute
A moody photo of a cat looking out the window while their human plays an Arturia MiniBrute. I instantly recognized the instrument as we have one at HQ.

Duarte is a composer based in Argentina who described his music as “Post-classical, neoclassical, ambient”. You can hear some of his music on his bandcamp page. Here is his latest release.
Tweek and Satie, Modified Toy Piano, Modular
We’ve seen Tweek and Satie before on CatSynth, but I think this is the first time we have seen them together. Tweek is the tabby on the left and Satie is the gray on the right. Between them is a modified toy piano with springs and piezo microphone. The springs and the chamber of the toy piano make for some great resonance. And it is a purrfect input source for the modular system.

Shiro with Yamaha CS30 and YC20
Shiro plays some notes on a Yamaha CS30 synthesizer (and inspects the settings). Below is a Yamaha YC20 organ.
