CatSynth Pic: Studio Panther (Arturia, Elektron, GameBoy)

A gorgeous house panther shows off her studio, which includes a MicroBrute and controllers from Arturia, an Elektron SidStation, and a Nintendo GameBoy. From Shaun Steven Struble on Facebook, who says this about the GameBoy:

My main composition machine. If I can write it in three voices on the gameboy and it sounds good, I know it’ll sound good when I expand it to the other synths.

Remember our pals Shadow and Brodie? Well, we have another photo of them honing electronic music skills. Via Shadow’s Facebook page.

Sadly, Shadow passed away in February. This is heartbreaking news, and our thoughts and condolences go out to his humans, as well as his feline brother who must miss him dearly.

    CatSynth Pic: Marcel and TB-303

Yesterday was “303” day – the date is 03-03 whether you use American or every-other-country format. And our friend Marcel is posing with a genuine Roland TB-303 for the occasion.

From Eric at polynominal.com via Facebook.

The TB-303 has become a prized instrument, so much so that multiple hardware and software clones have been created to meet the demand. Roland even came out with a TB-03 for its Boutique line.

CatSynth Pic: Obie in the Studio

Obie sits in the center of Charles Whiley’s impressive studio. Obie is short of Oberheim, and we of course love black cats. But he is rarely photographed with the synths compared to Mr. Maximillion. We are happy to be able to feature him today 😺

CatSynth Video: Korg M1 Modded circuit bent with Marcel

From polynominaldotcom on YouTube, via matrixsynth.

Just modded and bent the classic M1/M1r wavetable with 6 switches on the back of the machine. 5 sounds demo with circuit bent options.
First 3 demo with normal Midi keyboard, In 2 others, the Mi1r is driven by an algorithmic generator module ‘Turing machine’. Generated patterns are midi converted with a Doepfer a-162 cv to MIDI module.

Very interesting to see a Korg M1 and M1R “bent” this way. And if that feline portrait looks familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen it before. Eric of Polynominal.com and his cat Marcel are good friends of ours at CatSynth, and we have featured many of Marcel’s pictures.

A new Moog DFAM (Drummer from Another Mother) has arrived at the home of our friends at polynominal.com in Italy. But Marcel is clearly more interested in the box.

Yes, even synth cats love boxes!
