This photo was taken on a beach south of Carmel on the California central coast in 2006. It is posted today in memory of a friend who was there when it was taken. It represents both beauty and sadness at the same time.
This rock lochs alive as though it’s crawling up out of the sea. I don’t recognize it tut the coast and shoreline is ever evolving. Carmel is definitely a living beach, every few years it changes radically to look entirely new yet ironically it’s because storms have swept away the sand to bare rocks incredibly old.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful picture and thoughts.
Happy WW from the Netherlands!
Looks like a geant frog sitting in the sand ! Strange rock !
I love this photo. There is so much in it to think about. Is the sky clouding over or clearing up? There is a stormy look but the sea is calm. I like that lines formed by the kelp help set off the rock. Hope you find more peace than sadness.
I thought that rock was shaped like a frog!
Great shot, I thought it looked like a frog, too! I am sorry it brings you sadness, but it is a beautiful place as well.
That picture makes me feel melancholy. I’m sorry about your friend.
It looks so peaceful. Beautiful capture.
Thanks for visiting my entries.
This is a lovely place, but I’m sorry it brings you sad memories. I have not been to Carmel in years; hopefully, your next visit will bring new happy memories.
I’m so sorry CatSynth for your loss. I hope one day you’ll be able to look at this picture and remember the joy and happiness that person brought into your life, without the sadness. *Hugs*
Such a lovely and tranquil photo, and then it nearly brought tears to my eyes when I read the description. I hope the memories are happy ones you enjoy reliving…
I recognize this rock! It IS a lovely spot, to be sure. Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope someday this picture will bring you happier memories.
It is a lovely spot, and I do quite like this photo. And the original memory from the time it was taken is a happy one. With time, it will return to being that.
Sorry for your loss. You’re in my thoughts and prayer.
It’s a beautiful beach, and it looks very peaceful. Big hugs.
