As a rule, I don't talk about family on CatSynth (except for Luna). However, I am making an exception for my grandmother, Millie Poris, who passed away this weekend.
She was the “quintessential grandma”, very warm and full of life and doting on her grandchildren even into their 30s. As young kids, that included bring us treats, taking us out a lot, or letting us get away with things, that were otherwise forbidden.
Despite numerous health challenges, I have to think this last year was a happy one for her. A huge baseball fan, she was a VIP for her 90th birthday at a professional baseball game during a recent family reunion. And earlier this year, she celebrated a grandson's wedding:
Yes, it was in Texas, and she was enjoying the whole cowboy-hat thing with the rest of us from the New York contingent.
The wedding was also the last event where we were together.
I will be going to New York this week for the funeral and to be with family. This site will remain quiet for the next few days out of respect. We may get some guest posts at the end of the week, and of course Luna will be here next weekend.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Take your time and focus on what's important: family and reflection.

You have my deep sympathy — I know you'll miss her. Everybody should have a grandmother as caring as Millie Poris.

Amar. Dad sent your website to us. We love learning about you and your present life. Aunt Millie was very special in my life. She helped to raise Debbie when my parents moved to Florida. I remember especially that you and Debbie had the "chicken pox" at the same time and Aunt Millie came to take care of Debbie so that I could get to the store, right from taking care of you the same day!
We know how special she was and we know that since God decided to take her on the most holy day of the year, that he too thought she was special! We are grateful to have spent the last family reunion with her and know just how much she did enjoy it!

Dadaji forwarded this site to me. I was so saddening to hear about Aunt Millie, she was one of the sweetest people I know. Unfortunately we only met once or even twice a year, but she was always smiling and so welcoming.
Life is always too short, and you should live life with a smile and to the fullest, and i think Aunt Millie protrayed that beautifully. I was able to see her at Arun's wedding.

I wonder if you could give me some background on your Poris family tree.. My grandfather was Julius Poris who moved from New York to California when my dad was only 5 years old. We do not really know too much about the Poris's except that we are all supposed to be related. Please let me know if you knew Julius or Julian..I am not quite sure which…my father would have been 88 now ..he passed away about 18 years ago..Julius would have been about 20 years older then my dad..any info would be appreciated.I know the Poris family had many reunions in the past…my father never had anything to do with his father after he took off to California and left my grandmother who was a very sweet lady…I am very anxious to find these relatives.
