    Despite being curious, I did not take it or attempt to read it. For one, I didn’t want to risk damaging my difficult-to-replace 3.5″ drive.

    A professor I knew was once passed a disk like this (when they were common) with the words, “This is the only copy I have of my 200 page work and the coffee with cream and sugar spilled on my desk and it sat in that for several hours. Can you save anything on it?”

    He did, every word! And immediately made a back-up copy, too.
