Midnight Monday: Sick days
A few weeks ago, Luna had a feline upper-respiratory infection. Lots of sneezing and distress, but also a lot of time sleeping on comfy blankets:
This weekend I seemed to have a particularly nasty bug, which means being in a lot of physical distress (with fevers, aches and a runny nose), but also some time to just curl up with a blanket and rest.
It's amazing to see how similarly we deal with illness. It's a reminder that we share a lot of basic traits, despite our obvious anatomical and behavioral differences. On that note, there is a book Your Inner Fish that I am quite curious to read – and of course this would have been a good to read it, being as I have very little energy for anything else. It describes the many mundane and bizarre traits we share with other animals. For example, we have traces of fish anatomy and physiology like gills. Reading about things like this, and observing our own animal companions, it is hard too see how we don't share a common heritage, as some “anti-evolutionists” suggest.

Weekend Cat Blogging #125: The Halloween Edition
Luna and I welcome everyone to Weekend Cat Blogging, Halloween Edition. We are happy to be hosting this event.
This is difficult time for cats, especially black cats. In North America (U.S. and Canada), some continue to view cats as “bad luck”, such as in this article, which fuels neglect and sometimes abuse which can spike around Halloween.
Many shelters continue to suspend adoptions of black cats around Halloween (sometimes for all of October). And while this is to protect them, it is unfortunate because black cats already have a harder time getting adopted.
So we at CatSynth want to celebrate black cats this weekend. Black is beautiful!
We invite all our feline friends to participate, but we want to especially welcome black cats. Households with multiple cats are encouraged to let their black siblings enjoy the spotlight this weekend.
To participate, regardless of fur color, please leave us a comment, or contact us. We will be posting the big round-up later this weekend.

LBK finds a home!
Remember LBK, the “Little Black Kitty” from Nashville? Well, it looks like he found a home! From kitikata-san:Little Black Kitty has a home! Little Black Kitty has a home! YAY! Little Black Kitty has a real name too! His name is Bruno! YAY! Bruno also has the lap of luxury that he deserves. Bruno's human likes to tap on his leg, and Bruno is more than happy to hop up on his lap to sit for hours to purr, to be petted and to nap. Bruno's lap of luxury is his favorite place to be.
We at CatSynth are happy to hear about Bruno finding such a nice home, something we wish for all our feline friends.
