This photo was taken during the demolition of the Transbay Terminal elevated roadway over Howard Street in San Francisco. You can read more about the demolition and more photos in my earlier post.
It is definitely worth clicking on the image to see the larger version. There is so much detail in the concrete arches, the rubble, and most notably the transient structure of descending concrete pieces still held together by threads of steel reinforcement.
Oh man, it looks like the Commonwealth Games village!
Great photo! Happy WW!
You have a way of making the ordinary appear so unusual.
I missed the demolition. I’m glad you were able to take pictures. Were visitors able to go inside prior to the demolition to take photos? I heard the new terminal will be spectacular.
That big structure looks like it would be very hard to demolish!
Great photo, even though I hate it when things are demolished (well, most things anyway).
Happy WW, thanks for stopping by 🙂
it almost looks like a monster trying to climb back up the bridge! yikes
love the black and white…very effective.
There is so much detail in this shot…I think I could examine it for a long time and still not see everything.
It’s always sad when something old is destroyed !
Truly some great detail and contrasts in that photo, but the first thing my eye went to was the leaves on the tree! Initially, I thought you might have used infrared, but I guess the leaves are just changing a very slow tad…
Oyy, that almost looked like a person at first glance. Yikes…

My title “Falling” probably didn’t help. I was having a hard time coming up with a title for this one to convey the detail of the suspended falling concrete pieces.
You’re right — lots of minute detail in the larger version.
Dreamy! Beautiful shot.
Oooooooooooooooo!!!!
that IS a great shot 🙂
Good one. The title “Falling” really does fit. I like the close up of this pic.
Great capture! I really enjoyed all the details in the bigger image.
