An image from Gotoku-ji shrine near Tokyo. This shrine is dedicated entirely to cats, and is considered the birthplace of the maneki neko, or beckoning cat.
On Saturday, I will be posting more about my visit to this shrine and other cat-related adventures in Japan, so please come back!
That’s alot of cats, interesting custom!
I’ve seen a lot of cat statues like that here in Manila specifically in China Town. They say it’s supposed to bring luck.
Happy WW! 🙂
Hahahahaha! My daughter calls those “high five kitties”.
Happy WW! Check out some different perspectives of things I saw when I was in Manhattan: http://tinyurl.com/kukr72

That’s interesting. I didn’t know there’s a shrine in Japan dedicated entirely to cats.
I liked the high 5 comment. Looks like you can own one in most any size.
Wow! So many of them. The small ones are very cute.
WOW! Those are real??? They have that cat in The Sims 2, a PC game. I thought it was just something in the game. LOL. I had no idea that cat statue for good luck was real.

That is awesome! My late kitty, the beloved Grand Old Man, used to “beckon”….
