These are some of the bare wooden pilings surrounding Pier 43 in the San Francisco. This is an old industrial pier with a large archway and train tracks. It is in a state of disrepair but is being restored. I found whole scene quite interesting and took several photos.
I refer to shapes like these as "henges" 🙂
Nice one, cool catch for ww… Mine's up too hope you can drop by.
Another great shot. I've always loved wharves and piers, especially old ones.
Hi Cath… to me it looks like a wooden stone henge 🙂
Thanks for visiting earlier!
Looks like it is missing some parts! Thanks for your visit.
Happy WW!
Gerat shot. It certainly looks like a watery stonehenge!
Great pic! Looks a bit like the stone henge! Happy Wednesday!
It's an interesting composition. As for the pier, it definitely looks like it has seen its better days.

A contemporary ruin? Such things make my imagination run wild.
Yup … really looks like stonehenge
lol i was gonna say a watery stonehenge.. cool pic, happy WW
My WW is from SF too!
Yeah, I have to parrot everyone here… "Pier Henge"? "Wood-In-Water Henge"? "43 Henge"?
What a great photo!
Pier Henge — I agree, a very appropriate title.
It leaves one to imagine doings at that spot decades ago.
It's interesting to note that the henge design is not a modern invention, by any means.
Very interesting arrangement in the pier. Great shot!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Happy WW!
Interesting, I have not seen something like this here in my place before.
Ummm … Water Henge?
Very cool WW…thanks for stopping by mine and hope you stop by again soon!
That is a really cool photo!
ps: You are more than welcome to use my "piano" playing photo or the animated GIF! I do not know if I will ever become a good player. But I will keep practicing.
Cool shot! Love the "driftwood" look of those massive, sunbleached piers. ThanX for stopping by via WW.
That's an interesting photo. It's like a flooded Greek tragedy!
Great photo! I really love all the docks in SF. BTW – did Luna get her Snuggle?
🙂 Awesome! Mama was in SF 2 weeks ago.
I liked our Galveston Pier 19 better, it had a nice seafood restaurant on it. Now it is Joe's Crab Shack Pier 19 which doesn't have nearly such good seafood. It sits next to pier 16-18 BANANA TERMINAL, Del Monte Fresh Produce docks.
🙂
Happy WW, I still like your picture (but I like our pier better). Thanks for checking in on Dusty.
..
That is a very nice shot!
Happy WW! Yes, very nice pic. Hope they leave all this alone while restoring the area.
What a beautiful photo! It sure is an interesting and a great shot!!
We have always wanted to go to the Pier in San Francisco, we've never been there!
It's kind of like a mini-Stonehenge in the water. I like it! ::thumbs up smiley goes here::
the plce you photographed is somewhat different.but his make me crazy to have a visit in san francisco pier.perfect title.
I like this photo very much. I miss going to the pier and crabbing with my husband, or visiting the farmer's market. This picture brought back fond memories. Thank you.
Pretty picture! Happy WW!
Lovely pics …like stepping stones into infinitsea 🙂
Henges, lol. I'm going to use that if you don't mind.
I love photos of weathered stuff like this, especially macro shots of weathering. It's another world.
BTW, I've posted the process I used for yesterday's photo.
I'm late, I'm late. I love the piers in SF. I like the thought of 'henges'. Cool shot.
Very cool… I love the color combination of the water and those woods…
Wow…beautiful place..i really would love to go there..
