Weekend Cat Blogging #263

Last weekend was exceptionally warm here, and we opened the whole doorway between the patio and the main room. Luna enjoyed some time outside in the morning before the stones got too hot:

She does like to play hunt with insects she comes across:

Having both patio doors open gave me different views on familiar objects inside. For example, we have seen Luna pose next to the glass table many times, but from this new angle one could see the reflections from the colored lamp. Little spots of color against the black, silver and glass.

We will be looking forward to enjoying a quiet Father’s Day tomorrow…

Weekend Cat Blogging #263 will be hosted by Othello at Paulchens Foodblog?!

The Carnival of the Cats will be up this Sunday at When Cats Attack!

And the Friday Ark reaches a milestone today with #300!.

Weekend Cat Blogging: Enjoying the outdoors.

Our weather continues to be unusually warm and sunny (considering the reputation of San Francisco summers from Mark Twain’s apocryphal comment). And Luna continues to enjoy time out in our little urban garden.

Here we see her strolling:

And stopping to pose in front a metal screen sculpture:

Right now, we have two sculptures outdoors: the black metal screen, and the rusted metal work Pierced Screen by J. Michael Smiley.

This weekend is looking to be exceptionally warm again (well into the 90s in this neighborhood), so Luna has wisely retreated indoors.

Weekend Cat Blogging #221 is being hosted by Mr. Tigger at the M-Cats Club.

The Carnival of the Cats will be up this Sunday at When Cats Attack.

And of course the Friday Ark is the modulator. But it looks like they are moving to a new “Modulator Manor”. Recalling the chaos but subsequent rewards when we moved to the new CatSynth HQ, we wish them well!

Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos #50

Welcome to the 50th Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos! Summer is now officially here, and we have been celebrating the solstice. We are also (yet again) experiencing a bit of a heat wave.

Nothing says summer heat like the desert. And that is where Chey finds himself lost this week.

From Egypt, we move on to Israel, where the Lady in Red enjoys hunting a mousie toy, at Elms in the Yard.

Ping is doing better this weekend, but still needs some good healing vibes from friends. Doesn’t he look a little like the Lady in Red?

Speaking of look-a-likes, Puddy is joining us again this weekend, and enjoys some chin scritches at A Byootaful Life. And honestly, who wouldn’t enjoy some chin scritches?

Meanwhile, Zorro puts an ugly vase out of its misery at the House of Chaos. We at CatSynth can sympathize with the desire to not be surrounded by ugly things.

Summer in Vermont means June bugs, and lots of them. But for Mouse, they are just more toys to be batted and squished. AndrĂ©e of Meeyauw presents Mouse’s June Bugs.

Now we go from pouncing to biting. Rosie may look sweet and innocent, but it turns out Rosie bites. Ouch!

And from sharp teeth me move on to the sharp claws of Bazel at Mind of Mog. Meanwhile, iInfidel enjoys some yummy food. And finally, the handsome Meowza relaxes as he tries to stay cool. 113F makes our own heatwave seem cool in comparison.

Samantha and Tigger are beating the heat in Florida with water. While Tigger drinks from the faucent, Samantha enjoys playing in the rain. Yes, a cat who enjoys the rain. :)

Well, that’s it so far for this weekend’s Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos. We’ll continue to post submissions that come in today. Thanks to all who participated, and stay cool!

Weekend Cat Blogging #109: Summer Heat and Reading

It looks like our hosts Upsie and Sher are facing the full force of the western heat wave as they host Weekend Cat Blogging #109. Upsie is enjoying an cold pack to beat the heat. You can see the roundup of cats in all colors and climates.

Here on the coast things haven't been quite so extreme, but we, too, have been experiencing higher than normal temperatures, especially earlier in the week. The upper floor of CatSynth HQ got quite toasty, and Luna spent a lot of time napping, especially on her comfy blue towel (which I occasionally sprinkled with cold water):

Fortunately, the weather has cooled down quite a bit this weekend here, so now we're back to enjoying summer, including our summer reading:

The book is Lizard, a collection of short stories by Japenese modernist writer Banana Yoshimoto.

Don't forget to check out the Friday Ark and Carnival of the Cats.

We hope all our friends in the Western U.S. and elsewhere are keeping cool and safe.
