Some sad news today in the world of cats and synths. Oscar, the cat whose photo sitting inside a Moog modular went viral and delighted so many, has passed away. We at CatSynth extend our deepest condolences to Oscar’s family.
A scene from the exposed lakebed of the mostly-dry Owens Lake. This is the sink of the Owens River, which cuts a valley between the eastern Sierra Nevada and the ranges that separate this valley from the even deeper and dryer Death Valley to the east.
Owens Lake is the location of our latest highway video, which follows California Highway 136 along the northern and eastern sides of the lake.
Our friend Charles Whiley is restoring and upgrading a Roland JX-8P. We see Ansel (black and white) and Olive (tabby) hanging out nearby.
CoCo returns. Daniel Warner – who submitted this photo via our Facebook page – says she is “listening while I’m working with the Industrial Music Electronics feedback console…”
The “Industrial Music Electronics feedback console” includes a Joemeek VC1 Studio Channel, a couple of Mic-preamp-and-equalizer units from Daking, and Klark Teknik 1176-style leveling amplifier.
Cheddar shows off his “bassjolele”, a bass banjolele. His brother Big Cat snoozes behind him.
Submitted by our friend and musical collaborator Brett Warren via our Facebook page.
Brett appears as a bassist on many of my musical projects, including a couple of tracks on the most recent album, and on the track Merp Friend from our earlier EP.
The banjolele is a relatively new instrument to us. It has a banjo-style body, but a ukelele-style neck with four strings. The bass version is even more unusual.
Meet Blue, who sits atop a keyboard and keys a few keys for us. We also see a Zoom H2 recorder. Submitted by Mike Sheldon via Mastodon.
This is Blue, certain music causes her to come and yell at me until I stop.
