    Milo and Buchla Clone Modules

Milo enjoys some relaxation and pets. In the background, we see a couple of Buchla modules; these are clone modules by Roman Flippov, a 291 dual filter, and a 230 triple envelope follower.

    Milo and Custom DIY VCS3

Tuxedo cat sitting next to an analog synthesizer, a modern version of the Synthi VCS3 built from a kit and custom parts.

Milo proudly sits next to a freshly built version of the classic (EMS Synthi) VCS3. Submitted by Keith Winstanley via our Facebook page.

As mentioned, this is not an original VCS3, but a modern custom build that Winstanley recently completed.

It’s one I’ve been building on and off for about 10 years, just bought and installed the Ghielmetti patchbay, pin park and Predtopatch socket 🙂 It has a lot of features the original hadn’t but using original components and circuitry 🙂

We hope that Keith and Milo have a lot of fun playing their new instrument!

  • Lautrec and EMS Synthi A

    Lautrec and EMS Synthi A

Lautrec sits atop a vintage EMS Synthi A.

Lautrec lives with Keith Winstanley in the home of Milo and the late great Jet. Follow the links to see their photos here on CatSynth.

A fun fact: this particular Synthi used to belong to Dean Honer of I Monster and Moonlandingz fame. Now, of course, it belongs to the cats.

    Milo and Buchla modules

Milo inspects the case for an emerging Buchla modular system. From Keith Winstanley.

Milo has appeared several times on CatSynth – you can see all his appearances via this tag. Although he is a tuxedo cat, from this angle he looks entirely black. Either way, we know he and his human are going to have a lot of fun with this new modular system.

CatSynth Pic: Milo and MOTM 490

Our pal Milo is inspecting an MOTM 490 filter that has been modified by Keith Winstanley.

It looks like Milo is falling asleep on the job 😸

The MOTM 490 is a lowpass ladder filter designed to sound like classic synthesizers from the 1970s – or as Synthesis Technology puts it, “that synthesizer sound”. You can hear some demos on MOTM’s site.

    CatSynth Pic: Milo and Modular

We wrap up our week of Milo and Jet with this picture of Jet leaning against a modular synth. This is a pose worthy of Big Merp 😸

Thanks to Keith Winstanley for all the pics. We will feature Milo and Jet in the regular rotation going forward. If your cat has posed with synthesizers or any other musical instruments, please let us know in the comments, via Facebook, or Twitter @catsynth.

CatSynth Pic: Milo and Minimoog Model D

The weeklong takeover by Keith Winstanley and his cats Milo and Jet continues. Today we have Milo sitting comfortably (?) in front of a classic Minimoog Model D.

The Minimoog is a favorite of ours at CatSynth. You can see photos of our own and others here.

CatSynth Pic: The Electric Music Box (Buchla)

We have a special treat this week as Keith Winstanley and his cats Milo and Jet take over with a new CatSynth pic each day! First up, we have Jet with The Electric Music Box, the keyboard part of a Music Easel. this one has an unusual monochromatic face, but I like it. And it matches the cat 😸🎹
